Abstract

In the Indian context, parental influence is even more pronounced, as parents are often key decision-makers in their children’s education and career choices. To examine the impact of the perceived parenting style, on career aspiration, the investigator employed the Normative Survey Research Method. Purposive Sampling Technique from the senior secondary schools of Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh. The Sample was constituted of 500 students of Central Board of Senior Secondary Education, Delhi. Classes 11th and 12th out of which 250 boys and 250 girls were selected for the study. Career Aspiration Scale by Sarita Anand (2013) and Perceived Parenting Style by Prof. (Dr.) Madhu Gupta and Ms. Dimple Mehtani (2017) applied for data collection. Statistical techniques employed for the analysis of data Descriptive Statistics: Mean and Standard Deviation and inferential Statistics: t-test. Significant difference found between career aspirations of two groups of senior secondary school students having high and low scores on democratic, autocratic, permissive and uninvolved perceived parenting style.
