Abstract

Leadership is always multifaceted which combines lot of qualities; it’s the ability to make decisions, effective communication and building healthy relations. Leader should instill team spirit, cooperation which in turn lead to success of the leadership. Leader should control, supervise and guide. The study entitled Leadership qualities and interpersonal skills among science and arts graduates were undertaken among students. The sample were male and female, the size of sample was one hundred. The subjects had the experience of leadership either in school or had enacted the role of team leader. Most of the sample was female and all of them preferred the democratic style of leadership. Positive attitude, self-confidence, team spirit, willingness and the ability to work in team was found to be more the qualities possessed by the sample. Subjects were mostly cooperative and supportive in their character. More than half of the sample was bold and competitive. Interpersonal skills were also observed among the subjects. As a students group they are capable of performing well. Leadership qualities need to be polished by proper training. This can help in producing quality leaders to the institutions. Thus, aids in establishing efficient output from institutions.

Dr Lizmitha Godwin, Associate Professor, PG and Research Department of Home Science, Morning Star College, Angamaly South, Kerala, India

Dr Lizmitha Godwin received her bachelor and post graduate degree from St.Teresa’s College Ernakulam. She obtained her PhD from Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam, Kerala. She is the recipient of distinguished leader in science award. She is the member of different board of studies. Currently working as Associate Professor in Home Science at Morning Star College Angamaly. She is also an approved research guide of MG University. Served as resource person for seminars and conferences.

Devika M.J, Post graduate student, PG and Research Department of Home Science, Morning Star College, Angamaly South, Kerala, India

Ms. Devika M.J completed her bachelor and post graduate degree from Morning Star College Angamaly, she is a person who is an expert in Yoga. She is serving as yoga and fitness in Flex fitness Abudhabi. She was the winner of different yoga and sport competitions.
