Three guṇas of Sānkhya Philosophy: A Path Towards Personality Development

Sānkhya Philosophy is one of the most ancient orthodox schools of Indian philosophy believes in dualism, Puruṣa (Conciouness) and Prakṛti (Matter). All elements of the universe from mind, intellect and ego are rooted in Prakṛti evolve only contact with Puruṣa. Prakṛti has three primary constituents sattva, rajas and tamas. The nature of all things in the universe is determined by these three constituents. Thus, these three elements are pivotal in forming and development human personality. This study explores how Sānkhya serves as a pathway to personality development by promoting self-awareness, ethical growth and liberation from suffering. Drawing on classical texts and modern interpretations, it examines the application of Sānkhya principles of three gunas in fostering balanced personality traits, mental clarity and holistic well-being.
