Abstract

For the smooth run of the school administration the head of the institution should take the responsibilities positively. But it has been found that only the head of the institution is not sufficient to execute the administrative as well as academic activities of the institution. There are so many activities the school have to execute. Whenever we are going to consider the administrative and academic activities of the schools we have to consider the activities like planning, organizing, decision making, communicating, evaluating and so on.  Here in this research work we will consider the participation of the male and female teachers in the administrative works of secondary schools. To consider the administrative works it is found that teachers have to take part in several aspects. They should take part in the planning programme beforehand. They are found to communicate with the learners as well as the guardians for the sake of discussion on several purposes. Sometimes the teachers are found to take part in the decision making of different purposes. Here the research work is executed on the four different aspects. Those are planning, organizing, communicating and decision making. Here a comparative study has been done by the researcher that whether the male or female teachers are involved willingly in administrative works specially in planning, organizing, communicating and decision making. The present research work has been done on 200 male and female teachers from several government and private run secondary schools from the state of West Bengal. In fact, the research work has done on 100 male teachers and 100 female teachers.  For this research work descriptive survey method has been used. It has been found that the male and the female teachers are equally involved in the planning process for the betterment of school administration. In the sphere of organization, it is also found that male teachers are more effective than the female teachers but they are more or less equal with female teachers in communication. It is a strong point in school administration process. But fact is that in case of decision making the male is found more effective and their capabilities of decision making is quite fast and concrete. This prompts to take up a study such entitled to find out the constraints behind this.
