Indispensability of Peace Education

Abstract

Even though every year 21st September is celebrated as the International Peace Day, there seems to be no complete seizure of crime, corruption and violence across the globe. Be it for individualistic selfish greed or in the name of religion or community, destruction is almost present in every country on this world. Even if various struggles are undertaken to stop crime and malicious acts, crime seems to cumulate every day. In spite of several policies been formulated and plans getting structured, rate of violence seems to escalate. Therefore, it is the utmost need of the hour to train minds and motivate individual to practise and profess peace at any cost. As Gandhi said ….. Eye for an eye will make the world blind …. It is true that peace must be established in order to make a better place to dwell. Peace education has gained much ground in the recent times. Inclusion of peace education in the formal system of education has already taken place. Besides, Extensive researches on peace are still an ongoing process. Researchers strive to establish sociological perspectives are kept in mind before formulating plans and policies to expand the effect of peace and bliss across the globe. The paper targets to shed light on the concept of peace education, its necessity and importance. Also, the present study focuses on the deliberate inclusion of students into peace education.
