The Struggling Woman in Ramanika Gupta's Autobiography ‘Haadse’

Abstract

Ramanika Gupta is a prominent name among the celebrated women writers who have played a significant role in Indian politics. Born into an affluent family in Punjab, Ramanika Gupta's story is not just about a woman who actively and courageously participated in Indian politics but, as Rajendra Yadav puts it, "her journey is both a history and a development of the dramatic twists of Indian politics." The first part of Ramanika Gupta's autobiography, ‘Haadse’ (Accidents), is a significant document of Indian politics that portrays the realities of political struggles, conspiracies, and authoritarian tendencies. This research article provides an analytical discussion of ‘Haadse.’

Abstract in Hindi Language: राजनीति में जिन चर्चित महिला साहित्यकारों की महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका रही उसमें रमणिका गुप्ता का नाम आदर से लिया जाता है। पंजाब के संभ्रांत परिवार में पैदा होने वाली रमणिका गुप्ता की कहानी महज़ एक ऐसी स्त्री की कहानी नहीं जिन्होंने भारतीय राजनीति में पूरी प्रखरता और साहस के साथ सहभागिता की बल्कि राजेन्द्र यादव के शब्दों में- “उनकी यह यात्रा भारतीय राजनीति के नाटकीय मोड़ों का इतिहास भी है और विकास भी।”1 रमणिका गुप्ता की आत्मकथा के प्रथम भाग ‘हादसे’ भारतीय राजनीति का ऐसा दस्तावेज़ है जिसमें राजनीतिक संघर्ष, षड्यन्त्र और उसकी सत्तावादी प्रवृत्तियों का यथार्थ चित्रण हुआ है। प्रस्तुत शोध आलेख में ‘हादसे’ का विवेचन विश्लेषण प्रस्तुत किया गया है।
